When Is The Best Time For Tree Pruning On The Gold Coast?
Most trees on the Gold Coast can be pruned at any time of year. There are a few exceptions and good habits:
- Flowering trees are best pruned straight after they finish flowering, so you don’t cut off next season’s blooms.
- Fruit trees are usually pruned after harvest to shape them and keep the fruit within reach.
- Big, heavy canopies are best thinned in late winter or spring, before the summer storm season.
- Hedges and screens grow fastest in the warmer months and often need a trim two or three times a year.

Tree Pruning Vs Tree Lopping
Tree pruning is selective work that keeps a tree healthy, safe and in shape. We remove specific branches – dead, crossing, low or crowded – and leave the tree looking natural.
Tree lopping is heavier work that reduces a tree’s overall height and spread when it’s grown too big for its space. Both have their place, and many trees need a mix of the two over their life.
