Signs A Tree Needs To Be Removed
Not every problem tree has to come down, but these are the warning signs that a tree removal may be the safest option:
- The tree is dead or mostly dead. No leaves in the growing season, peeling bark and brittle branches are clear signs.
- It’s leaning more than it used to. A new or worsening lean, especially with cracked or lifting soil at the base, is a serious warning.
- There are large cracks, splits or cavities in the trunk. These can mean the tree has lost a lot of its strength.
- Fungus is growing at the base or on the trunk. Mushrooms and brackets often point to internal rot.

Climbing, Crane Or Both?
Most residential tree removal on the Gold Coast is done by climbing. Our arborists work their way up the tree and cut it down in sections, lowering each piece on ropes so it lands exactly where it should.
For very large trees, or trees leaning over a house with no safe drop zone, a crane-assisted removal can be faster and safer, lifting whole sections clear of the roof. We’ll recommend the best method for your tree and explain why.

Some trees on the Gold Coast are protected, depending on their height, trunk size, species and where they sit on the property. What Happens To The Wood And Mulch?
Branches and leaves are chipped on site into mulch. You can keep it for your garden beds (it’s great for moisture and weed control) or we can take it all away.
Trunk wood can be cut into rounds and stacked for firewood or garden edging, or removed completely. Just tell us what you want when we quote your tree removal. Large logs from big gums and figs can be heavy to move, so if you’re keeping them we’ll cut them to a size you can manage and stack them where you want.
After The Tree Is Gone
Once the tree removal is finished, most people want the stump gone too. Stump grinding takes it below ground level so you can lay turf, build a garden bed or pave over the spot.

Do I need council approval to remove a tree on the Gold Coast?
Sometimes. It depends on the tree, its size and any vegetation protection on your property. We check as part of your quote, and the City of Gold Coast website has the full rules.
How do you remove a tree that’s right next to the house?
Piece by piece. The tree is climbed and dismantled in sections, with limbs lowered on ropes so nothing lands on the roof, gutters, fence or pool. For very large trees we may use a crane.
Can you remove a tree that has fallen in a storm?
Yes. We make the area safe first, then cut and clear the fallen tree and any hanging limbs. Call us as soon as it’s safe to do so.
Is stump grinding included with tree removal?
It can be. Stump grinding can be done on the same day as the tree removal or booked separately – just let us know when we quote.
How long does a tree removal take?

Can I keep the wood for firewood?
Absolutely. We can cut the trunk into rounds and stack it for you. Some species burn better than others, so ask us on the day.
Do you take all the wood and branches away?
Yes, if you want us to. Branches are chipped on site and wood can be removed or left for firewood.
